Dear Friend

It's been 12 months since we held our first community meeting to see if there was any interest in forming an organisation to help improve facilities and services in the Parish.  A lot has happened since those early days! To celebrate our 1st Birthday we're organising a Drop-In session on Saturday 25th November from 10pm - 2pm at the Baptist Hall in Hind Street. You're invited to come along and find out:

  • How you can join Bovey Futures
  • Preview our Digital Screens project
  • Neighbourhood Development Plan - what does it mean?
  • What people think that the Community Land in Molay Littry Way should be used for?

As a new organisation we have lots of exciting projects going on and we are looking for more enthusiastic individuals who want to make a real difference to our neighbourhood, and turn ideas into reality.  So, if you have really good contacts in the area, or are great at organising, fundraising or community action we would love to hear from you. We look forward to seeing you on the 25th! To get in touch please contact us via email. Best wishes Cathy, Halina, Nicola and Tom Directors of Bovey Futures

Lottery win!

We've successfully applied for Awards for All funding to help us register Bovey Futures and connect us with a range of organisations that will ensure our success as a properly registered community organisation.  We've also been allocated funding to pay for projects like the digital display screens which will provide clubs, groups and societies in the town with the infrastructure to promote their events and activities to a wider audience.  We've already had interest from organisations in Bovey Tracey, Brimley and Heathfield who are interested in hosting the screens to help reduce the number of unsightly and out of date posters on our streets. The display presentation will be in the format of a slide show, and you will be able to see an example of how the screens might look at our drop-in session on 25th November.  If you are interested in hosting one of the screens please contact:

Get on your bike for a healthier life Bovey Futures has donated a new bike rack to Riverside Surgery for use by local residents. (this was not funded by the Awards for All Grant but donated by two of the Directors).  It is hoped that people of all ages will be encouraged to cycle more now that they can park their bikes securely, which will not only improve the environment but also promote health and fitness.
